Seaweed Pressing Workshops
Learn the almost forgotten Victorian art of seaweed pressing in this 4 hour workshop held at my home in the quaint seaside town of Broadstairs, situated on the East Kent Coast.
Join me at this relaxed and creative workshop to learn how to press a variety of seaweeds to create your own unique pieces of artwork to take home. Available for Private group bookings also.
What's Involved?
This calming and creative workshop lasts for 4 hours. All tools, materials and refreshments are provided!
The session begins with a short stroll down to the nearest beach to collect our specimens for pressing fresh from the shore. I will guide you through the process of sustainably foraging for seaweeds and help you to identify the best specimens for pressing.
Back at the venue I will share the basic skills to help you create a successful pressing and the rest of the session will be spent creating as many of your own pressed seaweed artworks as you like.
Seaweed pressing, like flower pressing can take a while so I will be gifting each participant their own hand made wooden press so that you can complete the pressing process at home (this can take several weeks, seaweed dependent).
Once completed your artwork will be ready to frame and gift or keep for yourself!
There are limited spaces available in my bookable workshops but if you would like to arrange a private session just for yourself and your friends / family do get in touch.
This activity is suitable for adults and children aged 8+ (with a fully participating adult).
